Job losses are possible as fire control centres are set to merge.

Bosses from Cambridgeshire's fire service yesterday agreed to incorporate Suffolk's emergency services.

The decision comes following the Government abandoning the £23 million plans for a regional fire control centre in Waterbeach.

Suffolk fire service had hoped to be moving to the new Waterbeach control centre in November as they have to vacate their current inadequate control centre. But the decision to axe the plans has led to Suffolk's services being moved to join the Hinchingbrooke fire headquarters.

It is expected that the merge will leave 15 jobs over the two counties at risk but it is thought most of these will be from the Suffolk service.
