When you've been somewhere to eat and had a really good time, it's always a little bit daunting to know whether to recommend it to your family and friends. Maybe you hit it on a good day, and the next time will be disappointing. With the Cavendish, there's no need to worry. We had eaten there one evening in 2007 and had a very good meal; so when we had a family weekend in Buxton this summer, we had good idea what to expect. As some members were travelling cross country, we phoned ahead to reserve a table for 8.30pm. As it turns out, we were the last group to arrive; so clearly the staff had stayed back to serve us. We have some fairly 'experienced' diners in our group and they were impressed by the interesting looking menu - and we were all impressed by the execution of what appeared on the plates. All beautifully cooked and with a true gourmet's delight of flavours and textures. The staff were excellent throughout - never less than attentive even as the evening drew on. Perfect.
