Charles Cotton Hotel Information

Situated in the picturesque village of Hartington in the heart of the Peak District National Park and only 20 minutes from Buxton, the Charles Cotton Hotel has been providing food and shelter to guests for almost three hundred years. Recently taken over by new management, the hotel, close to Buxton, has been totally refurbished to bring it up to date without losing its historical, country charm.

Famous for Hartington Stilton, the village is a short drive from Buxton and only 40 minutes from Alton Towers, making it a perfect base for walking and adventure alike.

Rooms

Charles Cotton Hotel offers four poster rooms, double and twin rooms and family rooms. The tariffs include breakfast, served in the hotel’s fabulous breakfast room. With sunlight flooding through in the morning, you can enjoy the full works, from oatcakes and black pudding to smoked haddock and kippers. And for those of you in a more continental mood, croissants and Danish pastries are also readily available.

Restaurant

The Hotel’s chef creates a daily menu using only the best local, fresh ingredientsfrom the Buxton and high peak area. Fish is a speciality of the Charles Cotton Hotel in Hartington near Buxton and the seasonal menu is available every evening and Sunday lunchtime.

Vegetarian options are always available in the hotel restaurant; a typical example is Mushroom, Quorn and Asparagus Stroganoff served with rice and salad.

Tea Room

The Hotel’s Tea Room is open from 8am until 6pm during high season and weekends, and 10am until 4pm at all other times. The Charles Cotton Hotel’s Tea Room serves a large selection of coffees including lattes, cappuccinos, expressos and americanos, as well as a range of teas that include Earl Grey, fruit and green teas. It also sells soft drinks such as smoothies and juices. Take out is available.
