The Buxton Opera House - a theatre of high quality entertainments.
Buxton Opera House presents a huge variety of entertainments throughout the year. Local people and tourists are entertained every year by around 450 performances. Entertainments vary from ballet to comedy and opera to children's shows.
Our Buxton theatre also annually hosts the following events:
- Buxton Festival which is running for the 28th time, it offers entertainments of world stage opera and outstanding concerts
- The 13th Festival of Gilbert and Sullivan
- Four-Four-Time festival of live music
Buxton Opera House is also home to the Buxton Festival Fringe, this runs alongside the Buxton Festival and this event offers a variety of acts to entertain (up to 300!) including theatre, poetry, comedy and street entertainments. It is one of the largest fringes in England and offers entertainment both indoor and outdoor!

What a great place for such a small town. Highly recommended. Easy to find, good parking near by. Pubs and resturants in easy access and a great variety of shows.
There is nowhere else like it - such a HUGE range of entertainments throughout the year. Weʼve bought a Matcham card which helps buy tickets at a reduced price but also encourages us to visit more often. Where else can you watch a salsa jazz band one week and opera the next. Itʼs a joy to visit.
