UpperDeck at Village Hotel Bury? Aye aye Captain!

Last Friday I was lucky enough to stay in one of the UpperDeck rooms at Bury's Village Hotel and I just can't praise it enough. The only way I can describe it is an experience - a completely luxurious, indulgent treat with all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a high class hotel.

I've visited Village Hotel Bury before for our business exhibitions (and what a fantastic meeting venue it is!) but I've never had the opportunity to stay - I've really been missing out! However, it was my partner's first visit and he was suitably impressed.

After sweeping gracefully up the steps and into the foyer (yeah right!) we were greeted by a receptionist who was friendly, polite and very welcoming. She promptly handed us the key card to our room and pointed us in the right direction.

One floor up and we've found our room, popped the card in the door, opened it and discovered that the UpperDeck rooms really do deserve their name. It was simply immaculate - clean, tidy and comfortable with that touch of luxury.

The bed was big, with lots of cushions, a soft and warm duvet and a blissfully comfy mattress. That's just what you need after a day out or if you're visiting on a business trip. And talking of business, there was a large dark wood desk with phone, Bose speaker dock for smartphones and of course, pen and paper.

Other features that really impressed us were the en-suite bathroom with pinchable toiletries (they smelled lovely), the huge flat screen HD TV with Sky channels and movies, and the ample wardrobe space. We also noted the huge selection of Starbucks coffees, tea and hot chocolate on the drinks tray - and of course, we could always wander downstairs to the hotel's own Starbucks coffee shop!

After settling in and getting acquainted with the room's outstanding facilities, we headed downstairs for dinner in the Verve Grill. Once again, we were greeted by a very friendly and professional member of staff, who quickly showed us to a table. Although there a number of other diners enjoying their meals, the candles and decor made the restaurant feel completely relaxed. It was intimate enough for us to enjoy each other's company but still busy enough to create a vibrant atmosphere.

The food itself was delicious, simple and elegant from starters to desserts. Even better, the service was truly impeccable, as the waiters were always attentive to our needs but not at all intrusive. The best compliment I can give to the restaurant is our clean plates when we had finished!

After our meal we headed back to our lovely UpperDeck room, got comfy in front of the TV and browsed through Sky movies. For us, the entertainment was just like being at home but in much more luxurious surroundings. We woke the next morning feeling refreshed after a great night's sleep and slightly sad that we had to leave!

All in all, I would highly recommend staying at this fantastic hotel; it really is a little piece of heaven right on your doorstep. What's more, the prices would be a pleasant surprise too, so what are you waiting for - when you will stay UpperDeck?
