This year's Woman of the Year nominations are now open. Who do you think are most inspiring and deserving of this prestigious award, now in its 21st year.

There will be awards in 3 categories (carer, volunteer, professional) as well as an overall winner!

The carer category recognises a person who has shown selflessness in caring for someone else in the Bury community. Nominees could be foster parents or someone who works in the carer industry.

The volunteer category is aimed at a woman who has gone out her way to help and support the people in her community who need it.

The business/professional/entrepreneur category will champion corporate talent, ability and achievement. Nominees should be businesswomen working in Bury who have made a huge contribution to the success of their organisation.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony at Walshaw's Bolholt Country Park Hotel on October 11th and all nominees will be invited to a civic reception at Bury Town Hall with the Mayor of Bury.

Sheila Dibnah, widow of the late, great Fred Dibnah will be guest-speaker at the ceremony.

Jacqui Comber, hospice’s chief executive, said: “The Bury Woman of the Year celebrations provide an ideal opportunity to sing the praises of the unsung female heroes in our area. Over the past years we have recognised examples of great courage, bravery, sacrifice, endeavour, entrepreneurialism, guts and determination.

“In this our 21st birthday year, we would love to make this the biggest and best Woman of The Year ever. Please do consider nominating anyone you can and come along and join us for what promises to be a fabulous event.”
