Mayor of Bury Supports Buy Local Week!
7th June 2013

Councillor Sharon Briggs took over the chains of office from Councillor Joan Grimshaw just last month but is already keen to show her support for the independent local businesses that contribute so much to our community.

The new Mayor of Bury had her photo taken outside the town hall with Wendy from Delicious, Francesca from Tompsons, our very own Debi, Phil and Kathryn - not to mention a huge Buy Local banner!

The mayor said -"I am pleased to be asked to promote  "BUY LOCAL" by the best of bury.It represents small individual firms offering unique and original produce, all locally sourced.  Keep Bury the best and it's businesses booming. Support your local high street, shop local, shop Bury"

Local residents are being encouraged to join the campaign too - if they pledge their support at www.thebestof.co.uk/bury anytime until 9th June they'll be entered into a daily prize draw. Five lucky supporters will win £100 to spend at any of the businesses featured on thebestof!

The campaign really does put the power in your hands - if you've ever felt sad or frustrated at the amount of independent shops that are closing down, now is your chance to make a difference and make a change for the better.

And of course, business owners can do their bit by displaying of our eye-catching Buy Local stickers or posters. If you'd like to get involved just contact us on 01706 281 320.
