Blind cords and chains can pose a risk for babies and young children who could injure or even strangle themselves on the hanging looped cords.

Brighter Blinds is a member British Blind and Shutter Association, which is currently running the "Make It Safe" campaign. This means that Brighter Blinds is committed to the BBSA's "Make It Safe" code.

Rob and the team at Brighter Blinds will give you the best possible advice on the most appropriate choice of blind and ways to make it safer. You will also be able to find out about blind options that are designed to operate without hanging cords, such as wand or motor operated.

You can also take a number of practical and simple precautions to significantly reduce risk, such as:

1) Making sure all blind cords are out of reach

2) Not placing your child's cot, bed, highchair or playpen near to a window blind

3) Not putting sofas, chairs, tables, shelves or bookcases near to a window blind, as children like climbing.
