Fishermans Retreat is a fantastic place to eat and drink. Mainly fresh, locally produced food cooked to a fantastic standard with a service second to none. If you like whiskey...thi si the the place for you...I have never seen so many different whiskeys in a single bar. The locaction is very scenic too - you have to try this restraunt - you will not be disappointed!
I have dined, drunk and attended functions at The Fishermans Retreat for over 10 years and always find the product and service offering great. Hervy creates a friendly atmosphere and his selection of whiskys is second to none! I would happily recommend this restaurant to anyone, either for a relaxed bar meal or more formal dining.
New to the area we found the Fishermans retreat in the blue book directory we picked up at the library. Warm welcome and exceptionally friendly staff. Had a lovely family meal here with very nice wine. Good selecton of both light and hearty meals. Overall a very enjoyable experience, we will be back. Welcoming decor - home from home feel. x
We are new to the area and after reading the reviews about the fishermans we had to try it, we were not dissapointed it was a fantastic find. A little out of the way but worth the drive, the atmosphere was warm and the food was an excellent standard. Our new local. John and Kathleen Moore.
Superb! This is what real food is all about, proper portions and no frills, and to wash it all down a good pint served well.
The Fishermans is a hidden jem! A lovely traditional pub restaurant with lovely home cooked food. The cheese and onion pie just melts in your mouth and the portion size is huge. A fabulous place for a Sunday lunch outing for the whole family.

Wow, Wow, Wow!!!!Every time I visit the ʼFishermanʼs Retreatʼ the food just gets better. I always take family and friends there on special occasions as I know they will not be disappointed. I love to watch their faces as we drive up this beaten old track off the main road and eventually arrive. The atmosphere as you walk in is always great and the smell of the fresh food cooking leaves my taste-buds tingling.Itʼs a real ʼtreatʼ and my 5 year old son loves going up there. He always asks can he go to the ʼFissshhermaaaans Weetreetʼ after school and the staff are so friendly they always make a fuss of him.Itʼs a family run restaurant and after a few visits, you really will feel part of the family!
First visited the Fishermans Retreat after a recommendation from Kathryn at Best of Bury. It lives up to being on the site! We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal on a very cold Saturday night but sat close to the fire. The food was excellent, service too and the price was in line with the quality provided.2nd visit we had to wait for our food but were politely and clearly told at the time of sitting down, pre-order. Well worth the wait though. Top Nosh.Keep doing it well.
Iʼd like to say a huge thank you to Hervey & the team at the Fishermans. I hosted my first Networking evening last month at the Fishermanʼs Retreat and I cant thank the team enough. We had 60 businesses attend on a Wednesday evening, Hervey kindly offered us the large room at the back and let us spill out into the bar area! Some delegates were so impressed by the menu they even stayed on after the event for dinner! Canapes provided were of excellent quality and the staff were extremely helpfull and polite! The event officially finished at 8.30pm but many people stayed and enjoyed the fabulous hospitality late into the evening! There is nowhere better on a Sunday lunchtime than this place, itʼs got everything you need for a perfect Sunday afternoon. The food is great, portions enough to satisy the hungriest appetite, and if you have room for a sweet they are good too. Great view and friendly staff.
We love the fishermans! Where else can you get home made chips and hand reared beef! A great place to dine with a fabulous outlook over the hills. Proper home made food and traditional. We would highly recommend for a chilled meal out where you can be content that the place is family friendly. Great also in colder weather, fight for your place infront of the woodburner!!!!
We visited the Fishermans Retreat after finding them on the best of Bury site. What a find! This place is great. The food is exceptional - both huge portions and extremely tasty. Not only this, a really friendly atmosphere where you feel welcomed. We will be visiting the Fishermans Retreat again!
A great place for Sunday Lunch with the kids, our children love feeding the fish, you can take your own bread or buy fish food there. The food is nice and the setting is lovely, it can get very busy on really nice days but the food is worth the wait.
If your looking for a TRULY EXCEPTIONAL meal you should visit The Fishermans Retreat. The food is fantastic, the portions are enormous and the choice of wine and spirits is excellent. We have eaten there maybe 10 times and have never had a bad meal yet, the choice is great even for Vegetarians and Kids.On a summers day there really is nowhere nicer than The Fishermans Retreat, you can sit outside and enjoy the wonderfull views, feed the fish and look at the animals.A great atmoshere both outside and in!
