Who are Samaritans?
Samaritans are a confidential emotional support service in the Bury area. The service is available to Bury residents 24 hours a day who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including feelings which may lead to suicide.
Our Bury Volunteers offer support by responding to phone calls, emails and letters.
Alternatively people can drop in to our Bury branch to have a face to face meeting during our opening hours up until 9pm.

There are over 200 branches of Samaritans in the UK and ROI and the service is offered by 17,000 trained volunteers.

The Bury branch of this charitable organisation opened 25yrs ago and has always offered a listening ear 24/7 for callers. Their mission is to be available any time of day to provide emotional support and care for those experiencing feelings of despair.
Volunteers from the Bury branch are available to do talks in Bury Schools / Prisons and different Bury Society Groups.

Can you help Bury Samaritans as a Volunteer?
Bury Samaritans fully prepare and train their charity volunteers. This includes taking part in skills practice exercises and group sessions to learn about active listening and different types of calls.
If you can spare between 4 and 6 hours a week why not visit or call to find out how you can become part of one of the country's prominent charitable organisations.
At the Bury branch we are looking for Volunteers for both listening & Non listening roles, we need Volunteers to help with collections too, if you have a few hours a week please contact us to see how you can help.
