Welcome to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help.

We help and support those who serve in our Armed Forces and those who used to serve including their families. Last year alone, our professional staff along with trained volunteers provided a reliable, caring and trusted service to more than 50,000 people helping to make a real difference to so many.

There are approximately 10 million people in the UK that are eligible and who could qualify for our support. Not everyone is aware. We are just at the end of the phone, waiting for your call.

Our services reflect the financial, practical and emotional issues people face today. We provide this readily available service to virtually everybody with a Service connection. Whatever your status, you can be certain that we will treat your enquiry with total confidentiality ensuring that you are treated with the upmost dignity and respect.

There are many people that we can help, both yourself and your immediate dependants are eligible for the help of SAFFA if:

  • You are currently serving
  • You have served one paid day's service in any of our Armed Forces
  • You have completed one year's service in the Reserve Forces
  • One day's service on operations or you have done National Service
  • You served one paid day in the Mercantile Marine including the Korea, Suez, Falklands and Gulf operations
  • You have completed one year's service in the Association's Nursing and Welfare Service
  • As a UK citizen, you have received one day's pay whilst stationed overseas as part of the Armed Forces and for a period ending no more than six months after your return to the UK

We are still happy to talk to you if you think that you may not be eligible for our help. We can still give you guidance and direction as to who else you could contact.

SSAFA Forces Help and support has been serving both the Armed Forces, including their families for over a 100 years. Our work is as vital today as it has ever been. Our support services are continually evolving and are driven by the current needs of the Service community.

From the provision of Health and Social services, support to the ex-Service community to running a confidential support line and also the delivery of holidays for children with additional needs, we cover many issues. Our solutions are aimed at the widest audience possible - anybody whose life has been touched by time in the Armed Forces.

We can help anyone with a services connection. We always try to respond to any genuine case, whether financial, practical or emotional.

If you feel that we could help or support you then please call or e mail one of our local offices.
