My wife and I had a lovley romantic meal here, Nice surroundings, Great staff plenty of choice
Fantastic restaurant. Booked on the recommendation of one of the family. Excellent food (especially the cheese board) Brilliant background music. Will definitely book again. Well worth a visit
We have recently had a group booking of 14 women at The Next Door Restaurant on a Saturday night. I cannot praise the place, or its owners and staff enough. Right from the off they were more than helpful, allowing us into the restaurant early to 'theme' our table for our guest of honour, allowing us to order in specific food for our menu choices, presenting us all with roses, laughing, joking - and the food was faultless. Everything about our evening there was perfect, and we all agree that there is absolutely nothing we could improve on. The take your own drinks policy worked wonders, and the choice on the menu was amazing. So, 14 women were all pleased with no pointers at all - I rest my case! I will definitely be going back. Thank you for a wonderful evening, Karen from Bury
I love this restaurant, the food is fantastic and you can even bring your own wine and they do not charge you extortionate rates to open it for you. The speciality is the food they offer, they cater well for groups and even with a large group the food was not a let down!
We went to The Next Door New Years eve with 10 of our friends. The food was excellent as always thanks Jackie. And Jonny Vegas was so funny (sorry Steve cant resist it) Had a wonderful night they both made it so special. Happy New Year and Good luck in 2011 Simon & Wendy Warrington
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED**** Excellent value for money with a BYO drink option! Celebrated Mum's 65th at Next Door last night and what a fabulous night we had! We were well taken care of and the atmosphere was fantastic. All 13 of us thoroughly enjoyed every course and we will definitely be going back.
A really nice, homely place with fantastic home cooked food. It's well worth the £30 a head and the 5 courses are superb. The cheese board at the end caps it off nicely.. we'll be back again soon if they can fit us in.
Fantastic meal at Next Door last Friday 6 August for my birthday. Went with my husband after passing it a couple of months ago. The food was fantastic and we had a really enjoyable evening. Take your own drinks seems to work very well and £30 for a 5 course meal plus coffee is great value considering the quality. It is not a big menu but extremely high standard of food. We both had soup, then prawns and smoked trout for starter, followed by beautiful fillet steak diane. After desserts, came a large cheese platter and after coffee and mints, we were stuffed. All the staff were very friendly and we will definitely be coming back and have already started recommending to friends and family.
As always, a fab night! Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough! If you've not been you are missing a real treat. Thanks again Jackie & Steve.
Visited NextDoor on April 9th 2010. Didn't quite know what to expect and originally thought £30 was expensive, however at the end of the meal, I realized the £30 was a bargain. There was 6 of us which were welcomed and my pregnant friend was exceptionally looked after by the staff, by making her tea and constantly plumping cushions. The food was 5 courses, and each one was superb. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection with a fantastic sauce. The other courses were also fantastic and i had to force down the cheese but was well worth it as there was a great selection. We met Jackie at the end of the night and had a nice chat as we asked about the history behind the restaurant. The only very minor criticism, can get a bit warm, but really we should have asked to open a window!I would highly recommend the next door, and cant wait to go back and try the tuna steak which looked fantastic aswell as the other things my friends ordered.Big thanks, and we will be back soon.
Visited the Saturday before last with 2 other couples in the group. We've been a few times before - always good but we hoped it would be thought a good choice by our friends and we weren't disappointed - all enjoyed a good feed. A bit warm mind and I wouldn't like to have to pay the electricity bill.
first visit on Sat 13 March and had one of the best nights of my life. Fab food, take your own booze, fantastic host, great music and a lift home, what more could you ask? 100% recommended and cant wait to go back.....fantastic value for money
We have lived in Tottington for nearly 10 years now and have never been to the Next Door restaurant but always wanted to try it. This week we celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary and our children clubbed together to pay for myself and my husband to enjoy a meal at Next Door. Well we weren't disappointed! The food was amazing, the service was second to none - a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy a fantastic meal!! The restaurant was full to brimming and everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you to Steve and Jackie for making our 20th Wedding Anniversary one to remember - our promise to you is not to leave it so long next time before our next visit!! Cheers! Mr and Mrs Mawdsley xx
Had a great relaxed evening at "Next Door"...The food was beautiful and plentiful. Great choice of food and the option of taking your own tipple was good.Thankyou...we will be seeing you again very soon!
Nice people and exceptional food. Good luck in the competition.
Prompted to look for a business I have used and I would be happy to recommend by the prize draw ( Fickle I know ).... However very happy to find Next Door on the list, havent been for some time now, to be fair we do have lots of good restaurants to choose from in Bury. The email from the best of team has made me remember what a cracking night we had probably over a year ago now. Very happy to vote for you and share some love as requested for a very good restaurant. Be back soon for some top food and a good night.
Great Food, Great Hosts, Great Atmosphere and Great Wine if you have Great taste and take your own. Truly unique and glad to recommend to others.
Delicious food. Excellent menu - An experience of an evening, much more than just a restaurant. Will be going again very soon. Thanks for a lovely evening!
The meal we had here has got to have been one of the best ever, the staff were great, food excellent we will be going again.ThanksMade a special night very special!
This restaurant was very welcoming and the service was excellent. It was a last minute booking on a Saturday night. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was FANTASTIC. The best Sticky Toffee Pudding ever. Although they do not have a drinks license you can bring your own. And a supberb 5 course meal for £30 per head. Will definately return here!!
This restaurant is located in the old village of Tottington and well within comfortable walking distance of Greenmount. The fact that it is only open on Friday and Saturday evenings and has a limited menu does not detract from the excellent quality of the food, the friendly atmosphere and the 'entertaining' service. There is enough choice on the fixed-price, five-course menu to suit all tastes and special arrangements for personal preferences can be made when booking. Another, unusual dimension is added by the encouragement to bring your own wine or other alcoholic beverage, for which there is no extra charge. A limited choice of wine is available if you forget.I have no hesitation in recommending Next Door as one of the better, reasonably-priced restaurants I have encountered in over forty years of dining out. One is, indeed, fortunate to have such an establishment almost on one's doorstep.
A great restaurant, very friendly and serves great food
We have been going to the Next Door for about 15 years and cannot praise it highly enough! It is the best value for money we know. The atmosphere is always great and the food is exceptional. The menu is small but fantastic - the only place I go where I have a steak and it is always mouthwatering. The tirimasu is to die for - donʼt have it if youʼre driving it is extremely alcoholic! Well done, Jackie and Steve, you really are the best in the business!Helen
Last week my partner and I dined at Next Door. Dave enjoys all types of food but I am a wheat free vegetarian which can be a problem when eating out but Jackie took it in her stride and I had the best meal for a long time. Thanks JackieAlison
I visited ʼNext Doorʼ on Saturday night with my husband Phil and iʼm still full! On a serious note this has to be one of the BEST restaurants I have ever been to. Next Door is unique in as much as they donʼt provide alcohol which I think is great, you can take your own choice of drink which for us was a bottle of Champagne bought from a supermarket for the same price that most restaurants charge for a bottle of Prosecco. I am a fussy Veggie and was asked at the time of booking what I do and dont like to eat, so unlike Phil who chose from the menu mine was specially made for me. We both thoroughly enjoyed the evening, the meal was fantastic. I started with the soup, then had the melon balls (which were to absolutely die for!), then had a brie and cranberry filo parcel with vegetables followed by a chocolate cake and half of Phils strawberry, Rasberry and Pear crumble, then Cheese and Biscuits (The biggest choice ever seen) and a fabulous coffee to finish! Another thing thatʼs great with this restaurant is the price, as a set price you know how much you will be paying at the end of the evening. Compliments to Steve and Jackie, thank you for a fabulous meal and weʼll be back soon! Debi
I went to the restaurant for a meal with friends for the first time last week. There are good choices on the menu for all the courses. I chose chicken for my main course which came with a sauce which contained cream. Two of my companions chose steak, one med-rare, one med-well done. I explained I couldn't have the cream and would have the chicken plain. A few minutes later the waiter came back and after speaking to the chef I was offered a Madeira sauce with the chicken, which I accepted, and which was delicious. It is the first time I have been offered an alternative in a restaurant when I have been unable to have an item which contained cream. The steaks were both voted "excellent and done just how I like them". The service was excellent and nothing appeared to be any trouble to those working there, the atmostphere was very friendly and I will definately be going there again.
We have been to Next Door on a number of occasions. Once through the door, you are made to feel welcome. You are allowed to bring your own refreshments( i.e. lots of alcoholic drinks!!!). The food is simple and very good. An absolute gem in Tottington Village.
We had a superb meal here on Valentines night. The restaurant was busy but we were still able to enjoy a romantic meal for two. We brought plenty of wine as the restaurant is not licenced. This resulted in quite a saving making the cost of the meal very reasonable indeed.Food was of excellent quality. Book well in advance.
Recent visit to the next door , enjoyed the food , excellent service. The atmosphere feels like a private dinner party rather than a restaurant. Value for money , no charge for taking your own wine and beer. Steve is the perfect host. Jackie is a great cook.Looking forward to our next visit. We have been many times over the past few years , it is always a treat . If you go with friends or as a couple you can guarantee a great night out.
We had a meal that was 2nd to none.Starter was French Onion Soup with a cheese crouton, delicious. Then we all had different courses I had Grilled Goats Cheese on salad it was excellant, hubby had Bury Black pudding with mustard , one had Mushrooms in Stilton and one had pate and french toast, I tried them all they were mouthwatering. Then we had 2 fillet steaks with a provoncial sauce cooked to perfection. One had trout stuffed with prawns and a watercress sauce and one had fillet of pork with apricots and a drambuie cream. All with potatoes and veg. All exceptional all 4 clean plates. Then puddings came 3 had apple and winbury crumble and cream 1 had panacota with summer berries that was exceptional then the cheeseboard came and I must say it was one of the finest cheesboards i have seen in a long time it catered for everyones taste with a selection of fine biscuits then the most exceptional expresso coffees i have ever had. We must also mention the staff they were all friendly, attentive even though it was full, nothing was too much for them.Great Place, GREAT FOOD all for a tiny price compared with others. Thankyou so much we had a wonderfull experience that we WILL be repeating soon,
It is not often that one can go to a restaurant and enjoy excellent food, good atmosphere, warm welcome and nobody hurrying you through your meal to get the next "bum on a seat". At the Next Door, you keep your table for the evening. The menu was not the biggest in the world, but the choices available should cater for most tastes (They even ask if you have any special dietry requirements when you book!). The most important thing was that the food was excellent, well cooked, tasty and value for money. When dining at the Next Door, you take your own wine and beer (No charge for corkage) and therefore allowing you to enjoy your favourite wines without paying restaurant prices for them. This English restaurant is well worth a visit.
