The present owners Jackie & Steve started the Next Door English Restaurant in Tottington, Bury over sixteen years ago. After taking over the existing "Village Sweet Shop" they spent three years converting part of the ground floor and cellars into a dining area, kitchens and toilets. Whilst carrying out the work and with the original shop front boarded up the Sweet Shop continued to trade separately next door. Customers continually asked "what are you doing next door" and when the conversion was referred to it was always as next door, so because of this the "Next Door" was christened.
The Next Door English / Fine dining restaurant of Bury opened with a simple format of a three or a five course "table de hote menu" with a "BYO" (bring your own wine) policy, this format has remained largely unchanged for over sixteen years with the dropping of the three course option being the only difference.
This local English restaurant has gained an enviable reputation for it's unique style of presenting great food in a relaxed friendly atmosphere. All produce is sourced fresh locally with the butcher, veg and cheese suppliers all located within the village. Bread is freshly baked prior to opening and fish sourced by availability. With the menu being changed every week this allows only the freshest of ingredients to be utilised.
Although the menu changes weekly it always follows the same format allowing regular customers to request special dietary or favourite dishes. Vegetarian options are available on request and always asked if required at time of booking.
Bring Your Own Wine is a very popular option allowing parties or individuals to enjoy their favourite tipple at supermarket prices with no corkage or surcharges added.
