I have been attending the weekly Family Learning sessions on Friday morning in school and wish to thank you and the team for this opportunity. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time meeting other parents and looking at how language is improved through play. Alice and I have had great fun with the activities arranged and delivered by Mrs Wynn. I mentioned to Pete Cookson and Mrs Wynn that both Alice and I would love to continue this course for the remainder of the nursery year as the activities in the school environment have been beneficial to us both. Thank you so much for providing us with this opportunity and I hope there will be others in the near future. Katherine Brooks
I wanted to write about what learning French with the adult learning means to me. I am in my 7th year of learning French at Ramsbottom library with Guislaine Epardeau. I am visually impaired and the help and support from my tutor and the other students in my class is fantastic. I like to think that I am proof that a foreign language can be learnt without seeing the written word. So now when I visit France I am confident when talking in French which makes for a much more enjoyable holiday. I feel very lucky to have found this class at a place and time that is good for me and we all get on so well together that we meet up for a coffee or a meal out and in the long summer holidays a small group of us get together for a French speaking group. I hope to continue with this class for many years to come and I know the other students in this class feel the same. Tracey Marno
Since retiring from my job as Deputy Head Teacher in a primary school I have obviously had time on my hands which I was keen to use in a meaningful way. Fortunately for me my neighbour was already attending the 'Continue Speaking French' class which I felt would be ideal for me and I have myself been a member of the class for several months. Not only do I feel more confident and that my vocabulary is increasing all the time, I also welcome being part of the group and being able to meet new people. Our tutor is highly professional yet friendly and approachable and makes the sessions enjoyable and worthwhile. I sincerely hope the facilities and classes, particularly the one I attend will continue well into the future. Time permitting, I am considering enrolling for other classes as I consider the venue and it's location are particularly good. Barbara Barlow
I joined my first textile art class in 1996 but it wasn't until 2003 that I enrolled to study for the City and Guilds Certificate in Design and Craft, (embroidery). This course introduced me to a new dimension of art. I'd painted in oils, had sewn and embroidered for as long as I could remember, but when the art of free machining presented itself, I was hooked. I never knew you could be so creative with a sewng machine! I was introduced to prominent textile artists such as Alice Kettle, who has since been an inspiration for my work and, after ten years and countless textile pieces, I have developed skills which I never knew existed. This discovery has resulted in hours of tremendous pleasure and a most unexpected development of my skills as an artist. I have Bury Adult Learning Service, and my tutor, to thank for that. “Bury Adult Learning provide highly respected quality bespoke training and development courses, which are Ofsted regulated and approved, to the Bury Community from Ramsbottom, Prestwich and Whitefield Libraries and from their Learning Centre in Bury town centre. The courses are designed and written with the Community need in mind, whether it happens to be for vocational, professional or personal development reasons. So whether it happens to be a course in languages, garment making, art or creative writing, then Bury Adult Learning is a service that should be cherished by the local Community. Some of the work on display in Ramsbottom Library from the art and ceramics courses is stunning and the Organisation is ran as a not for profit enterprise and so course fees are not prohibitive. – Excellent ***** - Mark Nolan, Orbis Solicitors.
Your team delivered a personal touch with their training being centered on the needs of the service, yet equally the needs of the individual. They were more confident and motivated to improve the way they service our customers. As a service that takes pride in our work, I feel the additional knowledge has provided food for thought and directed us towards a better and more focused customer service.
The training provided to our employees has been first class. The trainers put everyone at ease and were very helpful and enthusiastic with their delivery throughout the programmes. The funding made available to us has helped provide development opportunities to a greater number of staff than our training budget would initially allow.
Bury Adult Learning Service has been really valuable to our employees. The trainers have helped identify development needs and tailored courses to the delegates where appropriate. It has proved beneficial for them personally and for the organisation.
Our Higher Level Teaching Assistants have found that Adult Learning has been positive, personalised, professional and efficient experience.
Everyone who participated in the CLAIT training found it both useful and enjoyable and some are inspired to look into further IT training! So organising has proved very worthwhile; thanks for your help in this.
The training was conducted in a manner that supported the staff and also the service, with minimal disruption on day to day delivery, which was very important in a 24 hour operation. Training was appropriate, and I was fully informed of the progress of the training throughout.
I have worked with Bury Adult Learning Service for a number of years and they have always proved to be reliable when working with our staff to achieve Health & Social Care qualifications. More recently they have been supporting us to take our Customer Service team and various other staff members through the NVQ Customer Service qualification. The service's assessors are a joy to work with, building a quick rapport with our staff and enabling them to achieve their qualifications within a good timescale. They have a wealth of knowledge regarding care delivery, policy and procedure which is evident from the feedback we receive from our staff. I would most certainly recommend Bury Adult Learning Service for training.
I would like to draw attention to the excellent Adult Education provision available to the residents of Bury and especially to invite people to update their language skills. I have been attending a French class on Monday evenings at Bury Adult Learning Centre for the last few years. The teacher is excellent, a French national, and the range of activities is varied and always interesting. Last year there were 10 of us - just enough to run the class so if anyone out there has some French, wants to improve and have a bit of fun come and join us! There are also classes for beginners and in other languages plus other topics. I have seen some wonderful flower arrangements come out from a neighbouring room. The Bury centre is modern and well-equipped and there are classes in other centres around the town. Prices are good value and there are concessions for those who qualify. If we don't use this facility we may lose it so come and see what there is for you.
Thank you so much- as a Bury Resident ovr 65 yrs old you have changed my life today, I've never learnt anthing since school leaving at 13yrs old. I found out today I can get some help.
