Bury Market is celebrating British Food Fortnight with a series of cookery demonstrations and food samples.

The food festival, now in its tenth year, runs from 17 Sep to 2 Oct, and market shoppers can pick up ideas on how to make the most of the fine selection of produce sold by the traders.

Visitors can also pick up a free booklet containing details of some of the market’s food stalls, discount vouchers, a coupon for a free Bury Market shopping bag and an opportunity to win a hamper packed with food from Bury Markets.

Bury Market has won many awards including BBC Radio 4’s Food and Farming Awards’ Best Food Market, a listing in The Guardian’s “Ten of the Best” markets, and NABMA’s award for “Best Market Attraction” to name but three.

Some of the freshest produce in the North West can be found on the market including: Lancashire cheeses, Chorley and Eccles cakes, hand raised pies, freshly made soups, Sarsaparilla Cordial, the famous Bury Black Puddings, Lancashire sauces, locally caught seasonal fresh fish, award winning sausage and bacon, and fresh fruit and vegetables with one stall’s selection including produce brought to market daily by the grower.

The Food fortnight events include:
