Since 1986 Workwise has devoted itself to those recovering from mental health issues (1-in-4 people in the UK suffer from some form of mental illness!)
it seeks to improveme people's lives through work based training, support, and guidance re work related topics (CV writing, job search, informations and guidance, etc.
although highly respected in the mental health community for its works, Workwise has yet to have the local recognition it so deserves.
That is why it gets my vote - deserved recognition!

Goods are made by people recovering from Mental Health and the quality is far more superior than a lot of mainstream manufacturing. You can also have bespoke furniture, quilts, cushions etc made to meet your requirements and delivered to your door. Also they allow local Artists to display their work and sale it through Cavern4. Business can have their logos etc stitched onto their cloths to help with their corporate identity. Great value great Charity Shop using Social Enterprise with a new approach.

Workwise (Suffolk) Ltd is a specialist employment service, it is a charitable organisation so is not profit focuesed. The organisation works closely with it's clients, building relationships and determining how their needs can be best met. They are compassionate and understanding and do not treat people as means to get a good outcome, they generally care about their clients, working with them on a one to one basis and providing as much support as they can. They are willing to go that step further to help people into employment and to aid in their personal development, learning and training. Everyone is treated equallyand fairly and people are made to feel welcome. Workwise try to make people feel that the services they offer are a step in the right direction and are dedicated to their clients. Before I became an employee here at Workwise, I was a client. I was treated with fairness, compassion and consideration as a client and am treated equally as well as an member of staff.

It's friendly staff, down to earth approach to work and training. The Trainees get a realistic view of a working day while gaining a new skill. They get plently of advise through workshops regarding CV, interview technics, job search etc. Their initial 12 week scheme gets trainees started but if they require further training they can stay on until they are ready to go back into the work place.

It is a wonderful way to support mental health. Cavern 4 sells top quality arts, crafts and furnishings. It is a gorgoeous shop and is every craft-lovers’ paradise. Cavern 4 is about as far from being a stereotypical charity shop as you can possibly get. The charity itself already employs former trainees and has been successful in helping others find new jobs and get back on their feet. It is also promoting the work of a local charity and adding value to the community
the shop has gone from strength to strength.

The display and quality in Cavern 4 would rival any shop of a similar nature.

Workwise is a forgotten community gem.

Workwise helps those in most need in society by offering training and development towards employment.

Not only do they help those with mental health problems, but have recently run programmes for the over 50s, lone parents and the long term unemployed, to help increase their chances of gaining and sustaining employment.

They operate several social enterprises and also a retail outlet in the town.

They work hard to imporve the mental health of Suffolk and deserve a shout out! And lots and lots of love!

I love that this shop is run by a mental health charity called Workwise and sells the wonderful items created by trainees at one of the two centres in Bury.
Not only that, but it also supports local artists and allows them to sell their creations from the shop giving them a public outlet to promote their work.
Whats more, is Cavern4 has a gallery for artisits to exhibit and book viewings.
Icing on the cake, Cavern4 also hosts a social knitting club twice a week for people who just need the time and the space to work on something, and the opportunity to meet new people and share ideas.
This shop is a charity shop with a difference and deserves some promotion!!!!!

It sells really original art and design which you just don't find anywhere else. It also ticks all the boxes as it is a CHARITY SHOP LIKE NO OTHER.
It is the retail arm social enterprise Workwise (Suffolk) Ltd. It sells original beautiful work designed and made by the trainees at Workwise; quilts, cushions, t-shirts, tote bags. It's an Aladdin's cave of goodies. Chrissy and her team have developed a strong relationship with their customers and fall over themselves to provide an individual service. It also works hard at supporting local artists and designers providing them with not only a space to sell but also to exhibit their work. Chrissy creates a supportive and inclusive relationship with customers and artist alike.
It's an inspiring place and there is no pressure to buy if all you want to is browse that's o.k. I would definitely recommend a visit.
