When you come to The Fox Inn in Bury St Edmunds you will understand why we are sometimes referred to as a 'Gastro Pub'. Our full time chefs cook food fresh to order - there is no 'boil in the bag' food or bought in 'ready prepared' food served here. We use fresh ingredients, and locally sourced food where possible.
We do not serve 'fast food' - only freshly prepared food as quickly as we can. If you are in a hurry, just let us know.
Food insludes freshly caught fish, local meat and game and Suffolk specialities including sausages and gammon are cooked to perfection.
As vegetarians ourselves, we serve 'genuine' vegetarian food and that includes all our mouthwatering desserts.
As well as the amazing food choices on our Lunch and Evening menus which change on a regular basis, our specials boards really do contain 'the dishes of the day' - wonderful fresh food.

We are open from noon every day.

We are a totally non-smoking Gastro Pub, including our courtyard garden.
We have a large car park, disabled access, high chairs and baby changing facilities. Well behaved children are welcome.
Sunday is the new Saturday
Live jazz every Sunday from 7:15pm until 10:00pm.

Fantastic food, everything home made from scratch. Wonderful warm welcome from friendly professional staff who all clearly care about their role. Nothing is ever too much trouble. The surroundings are cosy and comfortable and a lot of effort is taken to ensure an enjoyable experience for the customer.
I came here on a business lunch reently and have since been abck with my family. Great food and service.

Have stayed here a few times on business and would love to bring my girlfriend here when next in Suffolk, as she would love the decor and the breakfasts.
The Fox has a great menu with locally sourced fine food. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and we love the jazz nights on Sundays.

We booked for a 3 night break after our wedding. We loved the Sunday night Jazz, food and room so much, that we've booked already for our 1st Anniversary.
It is the first chance we have had to write regarding our stay the Sunday before last on the Jazz Deal Package. Once again, we had a brilliant stay and cannot commend the Duty Manager and all the staff enough. The service was first class and the meal on Sunday night was exceptional. We have eaten at some of the best restaurants, i.e. The Ivy, Langans, Clarages etc and the food served at The Fox is as good as any of them. You should be proud of your chefs and all of your staff who collectively contributed in making our stay a memorable one. The manager was again on duty at breakfast on Monday morning and was just as efficient and friendly as he was the night before after a busy service. We have just returned from a one night stay in room one and just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay. Everyone was very kind and helpful and the room was of the highest specification. We also enjoyed a lovely meal in the restuarant on the Saturday night. The only downside is that we weren't able to book for two nights but have already made another booking for later in the year. great food and great atmosphere along with very good newtworking lunches!
Delicious food and very welcoming to me and baby daughter last week. Great baby change facilities and even had a box of books and toys to keep her busy.
I've enjoyed so many delicious lunches with my friends here! There is always an excellent choice of food and the staff are so friendly yet professional.
Had lunch and dinner here before we realized that they also had rooms which are really lush. So since then we came and stayed on our way to North Norfolk from London. we plan to come again, for a cosy dinner, meander over to the gorgeous rooms and then know that a fabulous cooked breakfast awaits without having to worry about the car.... which is safe right outside our room.!
Stayed the night here recently and can genuinely say, better rooms than at the Angel. So central, its own parking and luxurious rooms and super beakfast. It is now as a fav in my I phone.

We love The Fox for it's friendly atmosphere and great fresh food - a must for a posher than your average pub meal.
This is a great establishment with all that you need in one place- excellent food, nice atmosphere, parking, close proximity to the local town as well as the opportunity to stay in the fabulous recently converted rooms. The Fox is a prime example of how a successful business should be run and is a credit to Ron and Sheila Blackmore for all the effort they have put in to creating a friendly and welcoming establishment with second to none quality and service.
We are gutted that we missed out on the NY EVE Party with a brazilian band at the FOX, it was sold out immediately, BUT not this year... we have put our names down. Breakfast meetings, Lunch or Supper or a musice night ,the FOX does it well whatever the time of day!
Their main aim is to please the many visitors that go through their doors which includes me, at least once a week. They are frendly and welcoming giving excellent service through their cheerful staff. The food and drinks are of very high standards of quality and the rooms are always appealing,clean,warm and fresh. They cater for young and old with equal respect. I just love going there.
AMAZING food...great staff...spotlessly clean ...wonderful atmosphere....beautiful accomodation....We make a point of coming to Bury St Edmunds just to visit the FOX, simply faultless every time...Nothing more to ask for here!!!
The best food in Bury!
Great atmosphere, great food and a fine pint of real bitter! The rooms are absolutely fantastic too. What we liked also was the fact that all their furniture, fittings and food were all sourced from local suppliers. Thoroughly recommended!
This is one of my favourite pubs in BSE. Its quite simple why: Beer is served perfectly and is always in great conition, the wine selection wide and varied, the food is home cooked and deloicious every time and Sheila, Ron and their team are just so welcoming. Nuff said!
There's always a warm welcome from Ron, Sheila and the team at The Fox. I am loving the Jazz on a sunday night and as alwyas fabulous, freshly cooked food and inspired vegetarian options.
