THERE was a surprise for Gudrun Collins at the British Lymphology Society’s annual conference.
In front of 500 delegates she received the society’s 2011 Reputation and Professional Standing Award.
Ms Collins is director of the GeeColl Wellness Lymphoedema Service and Sports Injury Clinic at West Suffolk Disability Resource Centre, Moreton Hall, Bury St Edmunds. Lymphoedema is swelling of the lymphatic tissues due to trauma or a hereditary condition. The society had made the award for her work in raising awareness and for her ‘excellence of care’, which has resulted in being the first UK Lymphoedema Service to get Care Quality Commission registration
