Fully insured for the care and control of your pets, as well has having essential Public Liability Insurance, owners Andy & Claire Kinnard are also CRB checked for your peace of mind.
They will look after your pets in their home while you're away - particularly cats who love the reassurance of their familiar surroundings - and providing peace of mind for you. Animals at Home will come and feed, fuss and care for them when you can't be there.
They will also provide home care for a whole range of small pets including chickens, fish, rabbits, rats and mice, hamsters, reptiles and insects.
For dogs, as a less stressful alternative to traditional boarding kennels, approved families can take your dog into their homes when you go away - providing a home-from-home experience for your home-loving dogs.
Long working hours, shift work, busy family lives or illness can sometimes mean you need a helping hand when it comes to walking your dog or feeding time for pets in general. Claire and Andy can be there when you can't to help keep routines going and ensure your pet is happy and healthy.
Whether it's one small pet - or a small holding - Andy and Claire are equipped to provide skilled care. They have both received professional animal training at a veterinary practice, which included basic animal first aid, animal handling, hygiene and pet nutrition. They also have a fully equipped Animal Ambulance which is DEFRA approved and hold a Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency (AHVLA) license to provide a premium 24 hour pet taxi/animal ambulance service taking you and your pet to the vets or grooming parlor, or across the UK and Europe in safety and comfort.
Animals At Home can also be your source for expert pet help, including a 24-hour helpline for advice from a veterinary nurse.
When the time comes to say goodbye to your beloved friend and companion they offer a sympathetic and dignified guaranteed individual cremation, including casket, for your pet so that you can say farewell in the way you would wish.

Our dog 'Bob' is nearly 5. He’s been into recommended kennels 3 times in his life... It would have been more if it had worked, but he didn't eat, soiled himself and we were horrified to hear of our adored family pet being so distraught that he behaved this way. A family holiday was on the cards this year, but only if 'Bob' was sorted too. I spent a few hours researching alternatives and I was impressed with Animals at Home run by Andrew Kinnard. As a franchise owner myself (different type!)I was aware of another dog hosting service but what I liked about Animals at Home was that they allowed you to meet the host family and see where your dog was going to stay. We have had a trial run with the recommended host family, 'Bob' visited for the weekend and thankfully he loved it, we can have a holiday this year after all!! Andrew matched 'Bob' with the host family brilliantly, we couldn't have asked for better surroundings for him. Thank you!
We had Benji and Scamp as rescue dogs two years ago and had never left them, we were concerned about leaving them in kennels. We found Animals at Home by chance on the internet and this turned out to be the perfect solution. Meeting the host family with the dogs beforehand was good as it did not seem like leaving them with complete strangers. We were sent texts and emails with photos during the week which was very reassuring, the dogs seemed very happy. The arrangements could not have been easier to make. Would definitely use this service again.
Roxy has now been walked for 2 weeks by animals at home and has become a different animal, due to work commitments could no longer get back at lunch times and she was getting restless but now goes out with Andrew at dinner for walk and is fed and watered. I would highly recommend there services to any one in need of similar service and if Roxy could talk sure she would agree.
I would definitely recommend Animals at Home to anyone. They are fantastic. My dog Tyson needed surgery on his leg at the PDSA in Derby and Animals at Home made this possible. Without Animals at Home Tyson would not of been able to go through with the operation due to having no transport. On top of that I needed somebody who was reliable. Animals at Home are extremely friendly, helpful, reliable and good value for money. A big thank you to Andy. He was there 100% and I am extremely happy with the service in which I received and very grateful.
We have used this service twice and cannot fault it in any way. Each time we have needed Animals at home at short notice and it hasn't been a problem. The sitting service is ideal for my two (very) old dogs who won't tolerate going in kennels and this way they stop in the comfort of their own home but with someone who genuinely cares for them. It also has the bonus of someone going into the house when we are away and keeping an eye on everything. Would recommend without hesitation and will be using again.
I used Animals At Home for a day while I was at a wedding. Andrew came round to meet myself and my dog, Maisey, a few days before hand, and he is a very friendly, trustworthy man, who obviously loves animals. It was great knowing that Maisey was being looked after and I could enjoy my day without worrying. On my return, Andrew had left a note for me saying exactly what he had done for Maisey and how she had been. I have done nothing but praise the service I received and will definitely be using Animals At Home in the future.
Andrew responded the same morning that we phoned him to ask him to care for the cremation of our pet Leonberger, Otto. His phone manner was efficient and caring and he arrived promptly. We were very happy that Andrew empathised with our situation and understood that we needed to feel confident that Otto would be dealt with kindly and respectfully when he left us. This was one of the key reasons that we engaged Andrew's services and we are grateful that, all the way through, we have had no reason to doubt that we made the right decision in using Andrew. I would certainly recommend him to others who are struggling with the same dilemma at a time when you feel least able to deal with it.
With an elderly deaf Dog, a Chicken and 2 Rats we knew it wasn't going to be easy to find holiday care, but Animals at Home rose to the challenge. The time and effort they put in to making sure our Dog went to the perfect host family was outstanding, the Rats were easily sorted, and our pet Chicken staying at home with the carer coming in twice a day to check on her and making sure she was fed, watered and happy. We were able to relax on holiday knowing that our pets and home were safe and being well looked after. The Fees were explained at the first consultation, so there were no hidden charges, and all our questions answered professionally. We had contact numbers that we could use at any time if we were worried about anything. A faultless service that I will use again and will highly recommend.
Animals at Home (National Forest) provided a first class, high quality service when caring for my cat whilst I was away. Andrew came to meet us beforehand and discussed our requirements thoroughly. He was very helpful and the knowledge that he had been CRB checked put our minds at ease. He provided a pet log which was lovely to read upon our return to see what our cat had been up to. From the log it was apparent that Andrew had spent around 20 minutes feeding and making a fuss of our cat which made us feel that we had made the right choice by trusting the care to Animals at home rather than putting her into a cattery. I have already recommended their services to 2 friends and will not have any qualms about using them in the future. Thank you Andrew

Animals at Home visited our elderly cat twice a day for two weeks. On our return it was obvious that Georgie had been very well looked after - she was well groomed, well fed and her litter tray was clean. As requested Andy collected the post, put out the bins and watered plants. We were given a full written report on daily activities on our return which was very efficient. During our holiday Andy sent photos and text messages to me which gave us peace of mind that Georgie was ok. An excellent service and worth every penny, thank you. We will certainly be using the service again and would recommend it to anyone.
I was really worried about leaving my little boy Jakie who is a Bichon Frise. The main reason was because if he can escape he will run, this is his idea of fun. I told Andrew of my concerns he arranged for me to see the lady who was going to look after him for the weekend. She assured me that he could not get out and that he would be safe and sound. He was of course. I would use Andrew and his team again with complete peace of mind.
I am extremely pleased with the service I have been provided with. My dogs are very happy when I get home from work and have been walked by Andy. He has been flexible with me when my dogs have been ill or I have had to re arrange walking times due to work commitments. I would thoroughly recommend using this service because Andy and his team really do care about our beloved pets and appreciate how important they are to us.
