Bromsgrove School is an independent co-educational Boarding and Day school, offering outstanding education to children from the age of 2 to 18. This ancient and great school (established in 1553) is set in 100 acres of leafy grounds near the centre of Bromsgrove town.
Bromsgrove School’s Pre-Preparatory School and Nursery School, based at Avoncroft House, caters for 200 children aged 2 to 7. Nursery children are cared for in a safe and welcoming environment, offering them the peace and security of a home away from home. Pre-Preparatory School includes Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 where the emphasis is on developing essential skills in Literacy and Numeracy, but teaching also encompases ICT, art, drama, sport and music.
Bromsgrove Preparatory School caters for 400 children from the age of 7 to 13. The Preparatory School follows the national curriculum but is not restricted by it. The newly introduced optional Saturday Activities programme at Bromsgrove Preparatory is extremely popular with both pupils and parents. To give parents even more flexibility, Bromsgrove Prep also offers an extended day from 7.30 am until 7.30pm, a flexi-boarding option and a short weekly boarding option. Nearly all pupils from the Preparatory School move directly to the Senior School at the end of Year 8.
Bromsgrove Senior School currently has 750 pupils aged 13 to 18. Pastoral care is strong and the feeling of family within the School is strengthened by the House system, enabling pupils to identify with a smaller unit. Although the School is not highly selective pupils are expected to work hard and this is reflected in results - in 2006 85% of A levels were passed at grades A & B and over 95% of pupils gained places at their first of second choice University.
The extra curricular programme at Senior School is wide and varied with pupils able to participate in outdoor pursuits such as D of E and CCF or take classes in jewellery making, golf, street dance, and debating amongst others. This choice will be further extended with the introduction of the Saturday Activity programme which sees the school moving towards a five day academic week with Saturday attendance being optional.
