Bromsgrove Hockey club has been established over 100 years and is still going strong. The club is based at The Cricket, Hockey and Tennis Club St Godwalds Road, Aston Fields Bromsgrove where we used to play on grass. Since the game went onto Astroturf more than 10 years ago we are unable to play at the club but we hope that this will change in the future as we have aspirations for an Astroturf facility on site. Despite not having our own playing pitch or facility we are a thriving club which has achieved Club First Accreditation. Currently running 10 teams - 4 men's, 3 ladies and a Badgers (U16) , U13 and U11 we also run a Junior Academy of 80 + children and run a' Back to Hockey' scheme for the ladies and new for this season 'Give it a Shot' for the men. We Pride ourselves in offering hockey to every age group, ability and gender. You name it we have the opportunity if you have the interest. Alongside the sport we also hold a number of social events allowing members to socialise off the pitch.
2010-2011 has seen the club gain National Recognition from the England Hockey Board. Bromsgrove HC was named as a 'Model Club' for the Back into Hockey scheme run by Alan Gormley - Head Coach, which has seen numerous women try the sport for the first time or return to it after a break. At this year's National Hockey awards 2 of Bromsgrove hockey club members gained awards, Alan Gormley received the award for Coach of the year and Ken Buckley received an award for Umpire of the year. Bromsgrove Hockey club was runner up for club of the year. In the District Awards we also had 4 members being runners up for all their work and contribution they give. Also last season the Ladies 1st team gained promotion to the Midlands league which is the first time in the clubs history.
Bromsgrove Hockey Club has also launched an ASTRO FOR ALL campaign. The Appeal is to raise funds for a much needed community Astroturf pitch for use by a range of clubs and schools who would use it to play a variety of sports. This facility is essential for the club to continue its development and maintain its current profile.
