‘KEEP WARM KEEP WELL’ is a government campaign to reduce cold-related illness and the initiative is being actively supported by The Queen’s Head Inn, at Stoke Pound.
Having considered the government guidelines during this current cold spell, The Queen’s Head is introducing a new lunchtime buffet from next week (January 18), aimed at offering local workers the chance to enjoy a hot, cooked meal each week day, at a price comparable with buying a less warming sandwich and packet of crisps!
The buffet, available between 12.30pm and 2pm each week day and priced at just £5 (for a stacked plate of food), will feature a choice of delicious hot dishes, including Coq au Vin, Chilli, salmon stir fry, minted lamb and braised beef. Dishes will be accompanied by rice, pasta or potatoes. A take-way service is also available.
The government direct website states that food is a vital source of energy which helps to keep the body warm in cold weather. If you feel hungry, you will feel the cold more! Hot meals and drinks, throughout the day, will help people stay healthy in these colder winter weather conditions.
