Bearing in mind that thebestof Bromley Borough is all about supporting and showcasing the best of everything local, we're delighted to report that one high street within our borough has been nominated for the British High Street of the Year award!
These government backed awards, launched in June this year, are in recognition of the growing confidence and optimisim amongst high street retailers and aim to celebrate the incredible diversity and services that British high streets provide.
The Great British High Street Awards provide a national platform to:
• Showcase success stories and share best practice;
• Showcase the diversity of how places are servicing local needs;
• Give the public the opportunity to celebrate and endorse their local high street and make the most of what it has to offer;
• Recognise the excellent effort of town teams, the business community, local authorities, the charitable sector and volunteers, and other key partners, in achieving the above successes
The winners will win £50,000 of prize money and dedicated support and mentoring from industry experts.
Beckenham's entry is now in (entries closed 30th August) and we wait with bated breath over the course of September and October during which time the judging of the applications take place. The announcement of the category winners has been loosely defined as sometime in the Autumn, with an awards ceremony to be held in November.
