I recently went on a Bristol Hippodrome âBack Stage Tourâ and it was amazing! The guide who led the tour, Martin was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable it added to the experience. He told us amazing facts that I never knew about the beautiful building even though I have visited the place regularly for the past four decades! The history of the building is told as well as anecdotes about the stars that have performed there over the years. We were also treated to some ghostly stories of unexplained happenings in the building! It was a fantastic and definitely worth every penny. I would recommend this tour to all (although there may be access issues for some if unable to climb stairs). I think it would be a very good thing for a group of friends to do together. We were there as part of our team day from work. I will never visit the Hippodrome again without remembering the insights I now have, thanks to Martin who certainly entertained us in a more intimate way than is usual when being part of an audience at this venue. He certainly got a standing ovation from our group!

The Redgrave Theatre, after Sir Micheal Redgrave, is Clifton College's very own purpose built, 320 seated, theatre. Most of what you can see there is therefore straight out of the college and the Old Vic Theatre School -how exciting it must be for young people studying theatre to get the chance to perform in a gem of a theatre like this one! The Redgrave also gives space to the community, you can see a lot of very good amateur dramatic groups here. It's well worth checking out if you find you don't have anything to do of an evening and won't set you back a great deal.

I love this place. There's so much to see: Comedy, plays, storytelling - and value for money is amazing. The bar downstairs is large with a great atmosphere and serves good healthy food with good drinks selection. Bar upstairs next to theatre doesn't seem to be able to serve chilled draught but that's my only complaint about this amazing place.
