My favourite thing about this Lebanese restaurant is the tented area out the back, where you can enjoy a long pull on a shisha pipe under a very middle eastern tent in their pretty little garden. A glass of wine or some tea and a pipe is enough to justify this place on its own I think. An added bonus then that Sands is an excellent restaurant as well. They're pretty serious about their Lebanese cuisine, with care taken on every dish as to what spices and herbs are added. There's lots of beautifully grilled lamb to found and lots of pretty domes of cous-cous. One of the few places you can get something called a kebab that isn't an abuse of that title. The service is friendly and the atmosphere low key making Sands feels relaxed and matching the middle-eastern décor.
When somebody suggested going to Sands for dinner I'd never actually heard of the place before. "What is it"? I asked. "It's a Lebanese restaurant". The person I was with, replied. A Lebanese restaurant, not sure about that I thought. But I was pleasantly surprised. Since I went a few years ago, I've noticed the reputation of this restaurant grow and grow and is now widely considered one of the best Lebanese restaurants in the country. The food is excellent and the interior décor really makes you feel like you're in the middle east. I had grilled aubergines and kafta and it was delicious. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for that something a little different in Bristol.
