They took over an old-fashioned, struggling butchers & turned it around bringing in local + ethically sourced meat & fish. They are always friendly & knowledgeable, have free recipe & menu suggestions & contribute to the local community. Wonderful!

We love this shop! We are Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall supporters and have thus tried to steer clear of the big supermarkets for our fish and meat over the last couple of years. Powells is therefore a godsend and itʼs so refreshing to not have to drive into Bristol just to get a decent piece of fish or meat. It has all the values of a ʼgood old fashioned shopʼ too, particularly as far as the friendly and knowledgeable staff are concerned; Great!

Powells of Olveston is a real find, offering the freshest fish and most succulent locally-reared meat. Thereʼs also a fantastic range of deli condiments such as jellies, sauces and coffee. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful and itʼs hard not to buy more than what you planned to. Well worth a detour.

Scott is the owner and a top bloke who is passionate about his fish and meat. Having spent some time in the catering industry he knows the value of good quality ingredients. The meat at Powells is always excellent with clear provenance and the addition of a fish counter makes this an exceptional (and rare) village shop. Our kids enjoy choosing fish that looks like ... well ... fish and they love the mussels from Fowey.

Came across this by chance - the fish is outstanding. You can really taste the freshness. The lemon sole melted in my mouth - loved the red snapper.

What a fantastic find and only 15 minutes from Bristol - definitely worth a trip out, and now is a saturday morning event. Fantastic quality of meat served by knowledgeable staff that are happy to give guidance, advice and cooking tips! You could really taste the incredible difference of the freshness. The website is great and informative. Love the new introduction of the fish - my kids loved the fact that the fish was so fresh that it had been in the sea the previous day.

I came across this business a few weeks ago and have been back a couple of times since. The website is great and itʼs worth taking a look as it gives you a really good idea of what this business is all about. The meat and fish is second to none, you can park right outside and thereʼs a couple of really good pubs in the village if you fancy lunch whilst you are there. Definitely worth a visit if you are passionate about your food.
