King's Weston Roman Villa Testimonials

The villa is run by Bristol museums and is only infrequently open, although a few exposed foundations are visible through a chain link fence, however, the mosaics are covered by a wooden hut. I visited on the open doors day - normally held each september nationally. There was an excellant guided tour lasting an hour where the history of the villa and how it was constructed / run was explained very well. Additionally a small range of roman antiques could be handled, with special gloves!, and there were dressing up clothes for the children. The most impressive part are the mosaics inside. The second mosaic was brought from another roman site in Bristol to be preserved here. There are also the plunge pools and hypo-caust under flooring visible. Without a guide the villa could be a brief visit of 10 minutes.
