A group I’m part of decided to have a meeting here and those of us who hadn’t seen it before were very impressed! The main room has a huge centre bar and very tall ceilings.

The walls are filled with the original paintings and lists of names (we guessed at what some of these men would look like by their names alone), and the toilets are amazing! The ladies has massive leather couches in the middle of the room!

Since it’s part of the Wetherspoons chain, you know the food is decent and reasonably priced, and they usually have a wide selection of guest beers and ales as well as localally brewed tipples.

It’s easy to get to by bus, though parking could be a challenge certain times of the day.

I’ve enjoyed the times I’ve been there and recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of atmosphere and history with your pint.
