Have you enjoyed Brighton Festival so far? If you've had a slow start, here are some of the fun things you can do over the following week, from hilarious to poignant and everything in between. 

 

Friday 10th May

 

  • Brighton Festival 2013 - The well-loved and respected poet, writer, broadcaster, former Children’s Laureate and all round good egg Michael Rosen takes the helm as Guest Director of Brighton Festival for 2013. Take to the city centre, wander around and it's... everywhere! The festival runs 'til 26th May.
  • Brighton Fringe - The Fringe festival is one of the largest and fastest-growing open access arts festival in the world and the biggest in England. Wonderful stuff, it's all about stimulating, educating and entertaining everyone from aged three to a hundred and three. Runs until 2nd June all over the city. 

 

Saturday 11th May

 

  • Comedy Club 4 Kids - It's back... andit's funnier than ever! Cracking comedy entertainment for everyone over aged six, a great way to keep the entire family chuckling. Runs for three weeks at 2pm, £8.50/£6.50 per ticket at Komedia.
  • Articulate - Written and performed by Susan Richardson, ARTICULATE interweaves poetry, performance, story and images into a stunning and extraordinary Arctic experience that spans polar exploration, Inuit mythology and the fragility of the beautiful, remote polar landscape. From 7:30pm, £6/£4 each at ONCA Gallery

 

Sunday 12th May

 

  • The Dress Circle - Adapted by Laurie Graham from her immensely popular 1998 book, this new one woman play has all the warmth and bitter-sweet humour you'd expect from this author, whose work has been compared to Alan Bennett and Victoria Wood. £9/£7 each until Monday 13th at The Old Courtroom
  • Artists’ Open Houses - It's that time of year again, when our city's numerous and talented artists and makers open their houses and studios to the public, providing gorgeous artwork for sale. For more information visit http://www.aoh.org.uk or pick up a programme.

 

Monday 13th May

 

  • The BIG Reunion – Six acts embark on an amazing pop music  extravaganza as the smash hit ITV2 show sees the six chart-topping groups reunited ten years after they ruled pop like kings... and queens. It's on telly, too! 6:30pm, £30 each at The Brighton Centre

 

Tuesday 14th May

 

  • The Sexological Comedy Show - Ooh la la! Funny, provocative and intelligent, this bold, new approach attempts to resolve the battle of the sexes at 8pm, £12/£10 each at The Old Market

 

Wednesday 15th May

 

  • Paper Aeroplanes - 6Music DJ the lovely and very funny Lauren Laverne, Nemone and Cerys Matthews all champion their breezy pop and gloriously melancholic melodies at 8pm, £8 in advance or a tenner on the door at Komedia. 

 

Thursday 16th May

 

  • Book Burning - A fascinating and truly atmospheric meditation on democracy and freedom, communication, utopia, the desire to create fresh narratives and challenge authority. Get your brain in gear at 8pm, £12 each at The Basement.
