Things to do in Brighton & Hove - Late May to early June

Are you ready for some fun? The festival might almost be over but things are hotting up in Brighton & Hove all the same, as we get ready for an influx of summer tourists and visitors, all of whom are probably jealous as hell of our wonderful city. Here's what's on over the next week. We're so lucky! 

Friday 31st May

 

  • Brighton Fringe - If you haven't experienced it yet, this is your last chance!Take to the streets and enjoy the legendary and largest open access arts festival in the world, until 2nd June.
  • The Ladyboys of Bangkok - Fifty Shades of Pink await you as the gorgeous Ladyboys strut their stuff and the festival draws to a close. How can you resist?
  • Qua Qua Qua - The hilarious Chris Cresswell explores the epic funniness of Jacques Tati, the French comedy genuis, plus the art of the clown, in an interactive theatrical experience you'll never forget! 31st May-1st June, from 7.30pm, £13.50 each at the Emporium.

 

Saturday 1st June

 

  • Theatre Royal Backstage Tours - Head for New Street for a tour of our city's intriguing and stunningly pretty theatre, from 11:30am, £6 each at the Theatre Royal.


Sunday 2nd June

 

  • It's the Sussex Festival of Nature 2013! You'll love this free annual nature festival, held outside Stanmer House and Stanmer church between 11am and 5pm.
  • Jeff Koons - Enjoy the work of Jeff Koons, widely regarded as one of the planet's most important living artists. A masterpiece of a show at the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery until 8th September.

 

Monday 3rd June

 

  • Puppets ahoy! Kasper’s Puppet Theatre uses lovely old hand carved Hohnsteiner puppets, translating popular stories for today’s young audience. Showing at 11am & 2pm, £5.99 each until 31st June over at Brighton Marina.

 

Tuesday 4th June

 

  • Time for a laugh? Try Less Than Kind, the hilarious romantic comedy by Terence Rattigan. The show kicks off at 7.45pm daily, 2.30pm on Thursdays and Saturdays. Tickets cost between £10-£25 at the Theatre Royal.

 

Wednesday 5th June

 

  • Paul Morley In Conversation - Where does the south end and the north begin? What is the north and what really distinguishes it from the softie south? Northerner Morley puts a new slant on an age-old subject to cracking effec at The Old market from 7.30pm, a tenner a ticket.

 

Thursday 6th June

 

  • Love southern rock? You'll adore Rosco Levee & The Southern Slide, a cool five piece southern rock country blues band with considerable style, soul and attitude. 8pm, £6/£5 per ticket at the Latest Music Bar.
