Green Flag parks in Brighton and Hove

The Green Flag Award scheme raises the standard of public parks and green spaces by recognising and rewarding the best. Want to visit one of Brighton and Hove’s six fabulous Green Flag parks? Here’s some information to help you choose.

Easthill Park

40 acre Easthill Park in Portslade is a mix of open grass, mature trees and flowers with a lush walled garden, pretty borders and established shrubs. There’s a wild flower are at the south end planted with native plants and grasses.

 Hove Park

40 acre Hove Park on the Old Shoreham Road is a broad, spacious mix of grass, mature trees and flower beds, with great recreational facilities. The Fingermaze sits to the east, a stone land sculpture of a vast fingerprint carved into the ground.

Preston Park

Preston Park is our biggest urban park, running parallel to Preston Park Road. It’s home to all sorts of events, including Gay Pride, and it’s popular for picnics and games. Look out for the splendid Preston Twins, the world’s oldest Elm trees.

Kipling gardens

Named after the writer and Rottingdean’s best kept secret, Kipling Gardens sits next to the village Bowls Club. It’s a delightful little treat, tiny but densely packed with plants and full of winding pathways, with its own rose garden. A peaceful place, perfect for quiet reflection but not so good for children – it’s much more of a chilling space than a play space. The village public toilets are off the high street towards the seafront.

Stoneham Park

Stoneham Park off Stoneham Road in Poet’s Corner, Hove, is popular with the locals and visitors alike, with shaded areas and a lovely new rock garden. It’s often used for community events.

St Ann's Well Gardens

St Anne’s Well Gardens is full of interesting trees, both native and exotic, and it’s a haven for wildlife. There are several fenced off conservation areas for insects, birds and animals to enjoy in peace as well as a rage of unusual and fun features
