Sitting causes up to 66% more stress on your spine!

On average, we spend approximately thirty three years of our life working and if yours is spent sitting it's not surprising that you may experience back pain or neck pain.

In addition - we sit for breakfast, only to sit again in the car or on the bus or train to arrive at our office where we spend more time sitting and leaning over computers and then at the end of the day we repeat the process, only to arrive home exhausted and end up slouching on the couch for the next few hours!

We were not designed to sit!

We were designed to be on the move from place to place looking for food, carrying things, reaching and lifting,  squatting, and running.

Normal spinal curves provide strength to your spine, however  many things can cause spinal misalignments which may change these vital curves.

Misalignments may be present from the birth process (think vacuum extraction, forceps delivery, difficult birth), childhood falls, motor vehicle accidents, work accidents, bad work practices, contact sports, relationships which can cause  mental/emotional distress, poor food choices, environmental chemicals, drugs etc etc and can be aggravated by long periods of sitting - often in incorrect positions.

Pain is felt as a result of the curves in your spine straightening, which, over time, deform and damage the ligaments and discs -  irritating spinal nerves in the process.  Muscles surrounding the area are also put under stress, eventually leading to discomfort and pain. Tension builds up in the spinal cord which manifests as pain and is aggravated  by the physical  and mental/emotional stresses in your life.

As curves in your spine are lost, a process of “wear and tear” begins - this becomes the onset of degeneration.

Many people ask why everyone needs a Chiropractor, but it is obvious that we are not living as nature intended.  Ancient man (and woman)  spent  their day in motion moving from place to place looking for food and shelter, lifting and carrying, eating fresh, raw, unadulterated foods and escaping the daily stress of living without ingesting all the pollutants that our nervous systems have to deal with today.
