The first league game I ever saw was Brighton v Rotherham 1-1 in 1970 at the Goldstone, East Terrace. A big crowd as I remember, everyone was taller than me, can't remember anything about the game except a guy near me decked in blue and white bobble hat and scarf had a huge football rattle.

41 years later with season ticket for the West Stand safely bagged, I am so looking forward to the new season at Falmer.

Tony & Dick have done a fantastic job. The ground is amazing, my first taste was against Spurs last Saturday. Tingles down the spine, it was awesome singing Abide with Me before the game and hearing the North Stand in full voice brought back lots of memories.

Got the train to the ground, so easy, only a few yards from the ground. The facilities are good. Bit lively at Dicks Bar, so instead went to the concourse behind the West Stand where I treated myself to a bottle of beer and a really tasty steak and ale pie. The prices are very good and the service excellent. When I think back to the 70's when all we had for food and drink was one van and used to queue for ages at half time and end up missing 10 minutes of the second half!

The match was very entertaining and I thought Brighton deserved a draw for their superb first half display.

After the match I had another pie (this time chicken and ham) and then went to the very well stocked club shop. Saw Calderon and shook Dick Knights hand.

Great day and saturday should be even better.

PS It's great to hear that the application for another 8,000 seats has gone in. When that happens the atmosphere will be unbelievable.
