Shellfish straight from the sea each day
Nicky Tattershall has been selling shellfish and seafood for 20 years. Her shop and garden cafe are in West Bay just a mile from Bridport town centre.
The Trawlerman is a local family business harvesting and preparing some of the best shellfish and seafood in Lyme Bay.
Nicky's father fishes for shellfish such as crab and lobster from his boat the Ellie Jo. “Dad goes out into Lyme Bay each day for three to four hours,” says Nicky. “Then I source the rest and we sell a huge range of shellfish and seafood from whelks to crevettes.”
Riverside al fresco eating
The Trawlerman seafood and shellfish shop is at the end of George St with the little outside café on the riverbank opposite. There is some parking for collection of telephone orders but the easiest place to leave the car is in the pay and display on West Bay Rd.
Diners can bring their own wine to have with platters of luscious seafood. “We’re unique in Bridport,” continues Nicky. “”And we cater for Bridport holidaymakers who don’t like shellfish by offering ploughmans - ham and chicken.”
