What's on at the theatre
You'll find there's everything here you need to make your theatre treat special - apart from the entertainment, you can grab a snack & refreshments in the Cafe Bar (see below) and enjoy pre-show & interval drinks in the Gallery Bar (more details below) whilst you peruse the latest collection of Art. With easy and free parking (approx 200 spaces - 9 disabled), a fully air conditioned auditorium, full disabled access and infra-red systems for hearing impairment, everything is geared to making your visit to the theatre memorable and enjoyable. Oakengates Theatre @ The Place is proud to be part of the Arts Council funded "free theatre initiative" which is designed to encourage more younger people to visit and enjoy the theatre. For selected events and activities, a quantity of "free" tickets are made available to people under the age of 26. For more details, contact the theatre on

Cafe Bar
For freshly prepared snacks and refreshments, the Cafe Bar is open during lunchtimes and for all evening performances and is situated on the Ground Floor by the reception area. It is ideal if you need to grab a snack between leaving work and your theatre treat.
Gallery Bar
Fully refurbished, this exciting and adaptable space is utilised to display a selection of art by local & regional artists, and regularly hosts touring exhibitions. You can enjoy the latest selection of work whilst you relax with a drink from the bar - but of course you can easily pop-in during opening hours to view the gallery at your leisure.
Library / Learning Lab / Childrens area
A world of information, learning and reading awaits you. The popular Library is enhanced by offering free internet access, a dedicated childrens area, and the 'Learning Lab' where students can work and access the web for free from one of 14 PC's, in a quiet and professionally set-up work room.
