Bridgnorth Steam Train 40th Anniversary
A number of events are planned for Bridgnorth’s legendary Severn Valley Railway this year, their 40th year!
After the completion of months of engineering work along the 20 mile track to Kidderminster, full service has now resumed. To kick off on 5th March 2010 there is a 3 day long ‘reunion’ of 4 locomotives that were previously part of the SVR Fleet. These iron visitors will hopefully be of interest to visitors of the human kind, certainly attendances for similar events have increased greatly in recent years.
As an extra bonus admission to the Highley Visitor Centre will be free when purchasing a Day Rover ticket.
Visiting locomotives are now confirmed as:
BR 2-6-0 no.78019 from the GCR.
GWR Pannier no.5786 from South Devon Railway.
LNER 2-6-0 no.61994 "The Great Marquess"
GWR 0-6-2T no.6695 from Swanage.
Home fleet locomotives will be drawn from a pool of:
5164, 4566, 7812 "Erlestoke Manor", 46443, 42968, 43106.
