The Thatchers Arms is a beautiful country pub and restaurant that is situated on the Essex & Suffolk county borders. With stunning views over the Stour Valley, The Thatchers Arms pub has been under the ownership of Mitch, Tony & Janet Adams since November 2006.
At The Thatchers Arms pub, both staff and management are very passionate about everything they do. The Head Chef prepares home cooked meals from fresh, locally sourced ingredients on the premises. These include proper shortcrust pastry pies, real gravy, home cut chips and delicious homemade desserts including chocolate brownies, steamed puddings and homemade custard.
There is a lunch and evening menu available from Tuesday to Saturday - full of Pub favourites including Fresh Fish & Chips or Bangers & Mash. There are also lighter dishes, snacks and sandwiches available at lunchtimes. If nothing on the regular menu takes your fancy then it’s guaranteed that something on the ever changing specials board will! Tempting specials include fresh fish, game & homemade pies. A set price Sunday roast is always available on Sundays from £9.95, or £14.95 for three courses.
Food is served:
Tuesday - Saturday lunchtimes from 12 - 2:30pm and evenings from 6 - 9pm(6:30 - 9:30pm Fridays and Saturdays).
Sunday from 12 - 8pm.
Mitch is just as passionate about drinks as he is about food in his pub. With a great range of drinks from Real Cask Ales and Fine Wines to World Beers & Single Malt Whiskeys. Beers are sourced from local breweries, wines are supplied by Adnams, apple juice comes from Whites Farm a few miles away, and even the crisps are produced in Wormingford - just down the hill from the pub!
The Thatchers Arms Pub keeps Adnams Bitter & Crouch Vale Brewers Gold on the bar and the guest ales change regularly. The Thatchers Arms pub also has a fantastic function room with a private patio & wonderful views over the valley. This room can be hired for any occasion, from weddings or birthdays to office parties or family get-togethers. The room can accommodate up to 70 people for a meal or over 100 for a party. All of the food is freshly prepared and locally sourced as with the pub menu.
There are also regular events at The Thatchers Arms pub, all are publicised both on their website and on thebestofbraintree's Braintree events pages. There are two beer festivals every year, one in May and one in October. They hold farmers markets & music events, pub quizzes & charity nights throughout the year.
