Why Twitter?

OK.  So I am new to this, but can someone tell me what the dos and don'ts are - and what real value you get from twittering (if that's what they call it).

Now my husband says I can whitter - but to be honest that's something he wins hands down at.  Seriously, would like to know what I should be using Twitter for - and how.

Hi. I'm Jan. Married with two lovely daughters. Have very little spare time as my second job is a taxi service taking them to various activities every weekday evening and on Saturdays (not complaining - it's good that they have lots of interests)!

Twitter gives you the opportunity to become known to a worldwide network of people, who may have useful contacts when you need them. Twitter hints: 1. Don't over-Twitter - 1-2 times daily is the right frequency. 2. Don't sell to your followers 3. Make your Twitter of some interest to your followers 4. Follow those who folow these rules and dump the bores. 5. Follow those who follow, you so long as they don't bore, sell or over-Twitter. 6. Seek out and follow interesting and useful contacts. report abuse...

Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter allow people to interact with each other online. There are 355 million people on Facebook - and growing by over 300,000 per DAY - and apparently Twitter is doubling in size every 90 days and is forecast be at 50 million users by Christmas. Social media is where all the people are - and they are looking to gather first hand information or experiences, develop friendships, keep in touch, get information or start relationships. So Social Media really does matter. report abuse...
