Silverstone's owners secured the future of the British Formula One Grand Prix Monday when they agreed a 17-year deal with Bernie Ecclestone.
Damon Hill, president of the British Racing Drivers' Club which owns the circuit, said the deal was good for fans and business alike.
Failure might have caused lasting damage to the sport in a town and region that is home to a majority of the 13 Formula One teams and has provided the last two champions in Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.
The deal also ensure that the majority of engineering talent all the way from materials science through to engine mechanics, telematics and other sophisticated systems, stays here, with a significant part of that in Brackley.
It is rumoured that the deal was worth of £300M over the 17 year period, with the potential for a 5% inter-year increase.
