Environmental issues at Magdalen and WWF Earth Hour

This is interesting news from Magdalen College School, Brackley:

As a school, we are making great progress towards becoming more sustainable and environmentally-friendly. As part of this we are working towards becoming a Green Flag Eco-school. This year we have had notable successes including The Big Tidy Up (where we collected over fifty bags of litter from the school grounds), Tree-o-clock (where we planted over 250 saplings at the St Johns site), replacement of many school light fittings and installation of double glazing in some areas.

As part of our efforts to be more environmentally aware, we encouraged the students to participate in the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Earth Hour initiative. On Saturday 27 March, the WWF is encouraging a billion people all over the World to turn off their lights for an hour from 8:30pm. Last year approximately 13 million people in the UK were involved and the lights of many famous landmarks (including Big Ben and Piccadilly Circus) were switched off.

I’m Mike and the reason I became involved with thebestof Brackley was to help support local businesses and make it easier for us, their customers, find them. Local businesses add to the vitality of the area. They deserve to be supported!
