Fantastic Summer Holiday Club with A Difference From Deryl Whittakers School of Dance & Stage

Deryl Whittakers Northern School of Dance and Stage are holding a summer school for all pupils (and their friends) from:

 

                                    20 – 24 August 

                                            And

                                    27 – 31 August

 

The 2 weeks will be packed with unusual and interesting activities, which centre around performing arts.

 

Dance: will include Irish, Flamenco, Line, Country, Hip Hop, Street, Pilates, Yoga, cheerleading and lots more.

 

Singing: Will include a recording on CD of the child singing there choice of song.

 

Acting: The weeks will concentrate on performing the musical ‘Annie’. A performance will be staged at the end of the week. Children will be making props and costumes for the performance.

 

Sound and Lighting: Children will get the chance to learn about lighting and sound and will have the opportunity to operate lighting rigs and learn how to work a PA system. Some of the children will operate the sound and lights for the end of week performance.

 

Professional DJ Lee Drake (Sunrise) will be coming in to give a talk about his work and children will learn how to work the decks.

 

They also have a professional actor (David Gonat) who played Daddy Warbucks in Annie, coming in to give a talk about his work on TV and Theatre.

 

Professional dancer Caterina Argiolois will be coming in to demonstrate a professional piece and also give a talk on her life, training and career.

Music: Children will be taught how to read music.

 

Other activities include: Paper Mache Mask Making, Theatrical Make-up, Costume Making, French relating to Classical Dance, Art and Craft plus lots of other interesting things.

 

They are also planning a theatre trip which will be decided when we know numbers.

 

The activities will be set into age groups:

 

Under 5’s

6-8

9-11

12-14

 

They can take children from 3.

 

They will be open 9.00 – 4.00 but can provide earlier openings and later pick 

ups (extra charge).

 

Children will be provided with breakfast – Fruit, Toast, Hot Chocolate, Milk or Fruit Juices. Afternoon tea will also be provided – Sandwiches and Fruit.

Drinks will be available all day. Children must bring a packed lunch which will be refrigerated.

 

The cost for 1 week is £85

The cost for 2 weeks is £80 per week
