Bolton Society for Blind People are holding an open day on Thursday 22nd May between 10am and 3pm, to mark the opening of their new centre.

The Mayor of Bolton, Colin Shaw, will officially open the centre at 11.30am, but there will be refreshments and activities running all day.

As part of the day, you’ll hear about the different volunteering opportunities available at BSBP, find out more about the range of services BSBP provide and what they hope to offer in the future, have the chance to look around the new venue and finally explore the assistive technology and equipment that’s available for visually impaired people.

There will be several groups and organisations present at the open day, including Sight and Sound, Optilec and Calibre, to demonstrate the equipment, which includes talking watches, magnifiers, talking books etc. Other groups invited along on the day include Newstalk, who provide Bolton news in an audio format, an Eye Clinic Liaison Officer and the Independent Living Services from Bolton Council.

The event takes place at the new centre which is at:

The Sensory Centre

336 Ainsworth Lane

Tonge Moor

Bolton

BL2 2QL

To reserve your place on what is sure to be an enjoyable day, please call Glen Sheader of BSBP on 01204 337896 or email glen.sheader@bsbp.org.uk
