The Birth Sanctuary was first formed by Sue Baines and Jackie Tomlinson, who recognised the effect that a disempowering environment within NHS maternity units has on midwives and in turn, the mothers they care for. Sue and Jackie also recognised that many mothers felt rushed at their appointments, unable to articulate their wishes and unsupported after the birth of their baby in NHS maternity units.
The Birth Sanctuary are passionate about providing an exemplary standard of care provided in a calm, sensitive and respectful manner by highly qualified midwives and healthcare professionals. Whether you are planning to become pregnant, having difficulty conceiving, are currently pregnant or have just had your baby, The Birth Sanctuary are here to help and advise you.
