Afterglow Boarding Kennels had been established for about 10 years when we took over 18 months ago.
We could see the potential the kennels had and over the last 18 months, we have spent over £75,000 refurbishing the facilities and turning the business around to create the best boarding kennels in the Blackpool area.
The investment in our dog only kennels hasn't stopped there!
By the end of 2007, our new kennel facility specifically for small dog breeds will be opened.

Puppy Creche
We all know that a puppy needs as much love, care and attention as a real baby, which is why we've created our puppy creche.
Puppies are welcome to stay as day boarders at Afterglow Boarding Kennels for only
£6.50 per day (min. stay of 5hrs. required).
In our puppy creche, even more special attention will be given to your little ones!
Daily Rates
To stay at the best Boarding Kennels in Blackpool is reasonable too.
Our daily charging rates are as follows:
Small dog - £8.50 per day (eg. Westies,Jack Russels etc.)
Medium sized dog - £9.00 per day (eg. Staffies,Cocker Spaniels etc.)
Large Dog - £9.50 per day (eg. Labs,Border Collies etc.)
Giant Breeds - £10 per day (Mastiffs,Rottweillers etc.)

I had to use arterglow in november 2010 as an unexpected emergency! I have two lovely crossbreed bitches who decided to try and kill each other after 4 years of living together. I was heartbroken when it happened and knew I had to remove one of them from my house quickly as I couldn't put them back together. It was late Sunday afternoon when I rang afterglow and spoke to Michelle who was really sweet and said I could bring Morgan down straight away. I took her down and she stayed with them for around 2 weeks until I found her a wonderful new home. Michelle & Peta were fantastic, they didn't mind me calling them every day to see how she was and treat her like she was there own animal. You can tell they aren't just in it for the money and have a genuine love for the animals they care for! I would recommend Afterglow for any dog owner who loves their animals as much as I do. Thanks to them all. Morgan is doing well in her new home & I still see her quite often!! Many Thanks Afterglow...
I kenneled my German Shepherd "Alpha" when I moved to blackpool in 2000 until his death in 2009. Alpha was a very large,boistrous friendly dog and we had both retired from the Prison Dog Service in 2000.Because Alpha was a working dog I know from experience that many boarding kemmels were reluctant to take him even though he was very placid and like the maajority of Prison Dogs also a family pet. Afterglow had no hesitation in taking in Alpha and the staff were fantastic from day one.They looked after and cared for Alpha even bathing,shampooing,blow dry and his nails cut before I picked him up.(He loved it) Having extensively used dog boarding kennels throughout the UK as a Prison Dog Handler (also for my pet house dogs) I can honestly say AFTERGLOW were and are by far the best and I would and I do reccommend owners who really care about thier dogs welfare to board thier dogs with AFTERGLOW. I have used Afterglow kennels for over 15 years, the new owner Peta is now is the best. She is caring, careful, courteous, conscientious and consistent plus totally dog orientated. I use Afterglow at least three times a week to board my Standard Poodle - Remy. At first she didn't like going, now she runs to get in there! Frank.
I work at Afterglow boarding kennels & i would recommend the kennels 2 anyone who wishes 2 board their dog with us. I have only been working at afterglow for a month & it is the best job i have ever had !Peta and her family are amazing people and the kindest you will ever meet,they are down 2 earth and will help any1 & their animal in need! Peta and her family are not in the business for money- They are simply in it for the care of the dogs and their owners.Also peta and her family treat all the dogs we have staying with us as though they were their own. I have never had a job with such great standards and a happy, clean, welcoming enviroment, the kennels are like a 5 * hotel for dogs !! I also would like to thank Peta and her family for all they have done for me !& the great opurtunitys they have given me! I am extremly lucky and proud 2 say that i work at Afterglow and will hopefully be for many years :)
Afterglow kennels have looked after Millie my German Shepherd on three ooccasions and I would recommend them to anybody who is looking for a clean and safe place for their dog, where it will be looked after and well cared for.
We live in Coventry with my son and his family just outside Blackpool. We tried Afterglow for the first time a couple of years ago and our Jack Russell, Ruby, enjoyed every minute of her stay, even though it was only for a few days. We have continued to use the kennels when visiting the family and will continue to do so as the facilities are outstanding and Ruby is always happy to enter and extremely quiet on the way home. We are the owners of 2 very pampered, mischievous Shih Tzus Harry & Polly. Brother & Sister aged 2 years.They have not been in Kennels before & I rang lots of Kennels then I rang "Afterglow". I was more than pleasantly surprised to say the least that a person answered the phone & not a machine, especially as it was 8:30 pm on a Saturday evening! Peta told me to drop in any time & she would show me the facilities for small dogs. We went the next day & on driving in to the car park at Afterglow we knew this was the place for "Our Babies". The car park is full of beautiful flowers & ornate decoration.Reception was like an Aladdins Cave to me, it was full of blingy collars & leads, Toys & a fabulous range of dog coats. We were shown the "Puppy Creche" & "Doggy Day Care" room, which is under constant supervision, it was fantastic ! A lot of time & care is given to every individual dog & the atmosphere was lovely. The staff were very cheerful, friendly & helpful. My "Babies" were invited to a free days trial before their stay & they both came out really happy & excited. We had our 2 weeks holiday & so did my "Babies". 5 Star all round to Afterglow. They now attend "Doggy Day Care" 3 days a week, they have become more sociable than before. Afterglow boarding kennels is not just a kennel for my dog -Baron, it is a friends house that he visits whenever I am away from home working. Even when Peta comes to collect him he is mad with excitement He is a Rottweiller, now nine years of age, his little stump (tail) wags like it is shaking him and not the other way round. You know when your dog is in Afterglow that he is safe and protected. Peta is mad about animals you can see that in the relationship between her and the animals there. Baron would not stay anywhere else. Afterglows pick up service is one of the best and available at very short notice. Thanks Peta to you and all your staff Barons Dad x
Hi Our two German Shepherds stayed at your kennels in March this year, we were abit worried about leaving them as Kerry stayed for a week in another kennel in Preston last year and she was in a right state clumps of her fur hanging out plus she had lost weight, needless to say we were not happy and will never use that kennel again. With Kerry in mind we called to view your kennels after all we were leaving our girl with strangers and didnt want to put her through that again, but we didnt need to worry as from the first instance my hubby & myself arrived at Afterglow and spoke to one of your staff we knew both dogs would be fine, you can tell you are in this game for the love of the dogs and not just the money. Buster & Kerry enjoyed their weeks stay with you, they looked spot on when we picked them up so thank you all very much for restoring my faith in kennels. Definitely be using your services again.
