In 1941 Konstantin Simenov's hugely popular poem "Wait for Me" projected him into the literary stratosphere of the Soviet Union. But what was the price of becoming known as Stalin's favourite writer? This superb play follows an aged and unwell Simenov as he looks back on a lifetime as part of Stalin's Soviet elite and confronts his past.
