Local recruitment specialists and thebestof Bishop’s Stortford members, sisters Lucy Gilmour and Wendy Barriball from RecruitAbility have pledged to buy dinner for about 180 local people!

No, that’s not a spelling error; as part of his bid to raise a minimum of £2,000 in aid of the Isabel Hospice, Observer editor, Paul Winspear is not only running the London Marathon on April 22nd, but has also organised a quiz night at Rhodes on March 29th. Approximately 180 people are expected to attend and take part in an evening of trivia and delicious cod, chicken or vegetarian nuggets and chips, courtesy of the award-winning ‘Fish’n’Chick’n.

And RecruitAbility, whose Purple Hearts team is one of the 24 taking part in the forthcoming quiz, has generously offered to pay for all of the food, ensuring that every penny possible can be donated to Isabel Hospice.

Observer editor Paul commented: “RecruitAbility’s fantastically generous support means that even more money will go to support the magnificent work of the Isabel Hospice. It’s just this sort of gesture that gives me food for thought and spurs me on while I’m pounding the paths and lanes training for London.”

Having set up RecruitAbility in 2008, just as the recession hit, Lucy and Wendy have steadily built their business into one of the leading recruitment agencies in the region, and are keen to give back to the community that has supported them over the last four years.

As Lucy explains, “We started working from home and we now employ four people, and we put that down to having the right attitude.

“We like to try to help as much as possible and have done quite a lot of work with local schools, helping students with interviewing techniques and putting together a CV.

“We try to give something back and it’s the same with helping the Isabel Hospice. We know their fantastic work.”
