As you are probably already aware there are ambitious plans to develop a £105m shopping complex in Bishop’s Stortford Old River Lane area. Henderson Global Investors' proposals for a 35-unit retail development at land off The Causeway includes two restaurants, a digital cinema, about 670 parking places and up to 100 new homes on the site. Several buildings, including the United Reformed Church Hall off Water Lane and the former East Herts District Council offices, would be demolished to make way.

We have set up a Facebook page to collate all the latest news on the development at: thebestof Bishops Stortford/it's your town  for you to add comment to published news and promote to friends and family so that we can get the whole community involved in sharing opinion, We want to hear from you, your friends and family, on thebestof Bishop’s Stortford site. Log in as a blogger and share your views with your community. Do you think this should go ahead? At a planning meeting on the 4th January, members objected strongly and the town council's planning committee decided to object on 10 grounds including traffic congestion, lack of parking and overdevelopment, but a decision is yet to be made. Tell us what you think, maybe you believe Bishop’s Stortford would benefit from such a development? Make sure your voice is heard and share your views today with the online community. When we have sufficient comments we will be passing on all viewpoints to the planning authority East Herts District Council   - so you can make a difference!

Get the debate going today and help shape Bishop’s Stortford.
