Theatre Street is a stage and dance school with locations in Thamesmead, Bexleyheath and Plumstead. They are primarily children's dance school classes (adult classes are also available).
Children from Thamesmead, Bexley and further afield in South East London visit Theatre Street after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays to develop their dance skills in a number of styles, such as:
- Ballet
- Jazz
- Tap
- Street dance
- Disneypop dance
- Break dance
- Pre-School Classes
A stage school also runs at our Bexleyheath (Afternoon) and Plumstead (Morning) locations on Saturdays, helping children develop self-confidence through dance, singing and drama.
Children from Theatre Street have recently been in productions at the Churchill Theatre Bromley, Erith Playhouse and also film work. Students with the School have audition opportunities in film, TV and theatre including West End shows.
Theatre Street is a BTDA school and is independantly run, not part of any chain or franchise.
Adults are welcome at Theatre Street dance school as well. Our Adult Tap and Adult Dance & Fitness are excellent ways of keeping fit and having fun at the same time. The emphasis is very much on enjoyment - you don't need any previous dance experience to join in an adult dance class. Come along, make new friends and keep fit in an enjoyable way. Melody Bear
We are now offering specialist pre-school classes based upon Melody Bear, a special syllabus specifically designed for children aged 2-3. These classes are held in West Thamesmead and Bexleyheath.
Theatre Street dance school was founded in 2001 by former actress and dancer Claire Pourret in a move that satisfied her lifelong ambition to open her own dance and stage school for children. From its modest beginnings seven years ago, Theatre Street is now a thriving dance school - classes are attended by nearly 200 students from Thamesmead, Bexleyheath, Plumstead and surrounding areas.

My daughter is 6 years old and has been attending theatre street now for 4 years The teachers are top professionals and are the nicest people you could ever meet. My daughter has passed all her exams with distinction. They hold a show annually so the children get a feel of the real stage! They also hold other activities throughout the year. I would recommend anybody to join
Theatre Street is a wonderful environment for children of all ages. My daughter has been a student for almost 6 years now. In that time she has had the benefit of top quality teachers and has passed all of her singing, dance (jazz, tap and ballet) and drama exams. She has made many public performances and even appeared in a yellow pages advert! Highly recommended to all parents.
