In June every year the roads around Walkington, Beverley and Bishop Burton are filled with a colourful procession of horses and carriages/wagons as the Walkington Victorian Hayride gets underway. It is a fabulous opportunity to see and experience a totally unique event.
The procession leaves Northlands Farm, Walkington at 12.30 p.m. and travels through the village onto Bishop Burton where it remains for a short time on the village green before setting off again towards Beverley Westwood. After an opportunity to see the horses and carriages at close proximity, the procession sets off from Beverley Westwood and proceeds through Beverley's historic North Bar into the heart of the town. From here the magnificent procession sets off homeward bound for Northlands Farm, Walkington where well-deserved refreshments are awaiting all participants.
The timetable is as follows:
- 12.30 p.m. Parade leaves Walkington
- 1.30 p.m. Bishop Burton
- 3.00 p.m. Beverley Westwood
- 4.00 p.m. Beverley
