Plans and arrangements are well underway for the Ambergate Carnival Week culminating with the Carnival on 11th July 2009.
The committee is pleased to acknowledge the donation of £500 from Councillor Geoff Carlile's Community Leadership Fund in addition to support pledged by local businesses, which will help to ensure the success of the previous year is continued.
Claire Sutton from the Carnival committee commented "The donation from Councillor Carlile's Community Leadership fund is such a great boost for Carnival 2009 as it is equivalent to the income from two or three of our hard earned fund raising events. It will go towards something essential for the Carnival such as the Marquee or the entertainment. As we were able to get so many people to attend in 2008 we really want to get local businesses involved this year, so if anyone would like to get involved or sponsor an event please get in touch"

On Saturday 11th July...
The Main Carnival After Party
Live rock music & DJs to round off the carnival with a bang in The Hurt Arms Grounds - showcasing a couple of excellent local bands – Rebel Territory and The Fossils.
Rebel Territory - The super talented, young, up-and-coming rock trio Rebel Territory will be headlining with their own brand of brash original contemporary Brit-Rock. Rebel Territory feature the awesome super-charged guitar playing of Lee Zajciw along with bassist James Oldrini and drummer Sean Skinner forming a tight unit who bring classic rock influences well into the 21st century. They'll be playing the best of their own material along with a dash of contemporary rock covers.
The Fossils - Also, village heroes The Fossils will be playing a set covers chock full of favourites – raging from tunes by the Stones to more up to date numbers by Scissor Sisters and Blur. Make sure you're ready to sing along to some great party tunes.
In between and after the sets we'll be having a number of DJs – including some spinning yer actual original vinyl singles from the 70s and 80s (a bit of soul/funk/disco/punk/new-wave/electro/80s-pop action there!)
Tickets will be available in the run up to the night at £4 ( see website for more details on where to get them) and it'll be £5 on the door.
Doors open at 7.30pm and the first band will be on at 8pm with a full bar and food available throughout until close at 12 midnight.
